This year due to Covid risk, we are trying our best to not overlap groups. Full lodge bookings are easiest for this, if you can gather a group for all six rooms, it is ideal. Otherwise, you will become a part of a group, checking in and out on the same dates, so that we can periodically do a deep clean and let the air flow through for a few hours between groups, reduce the risk of one set of guests transmitting the virus to the next set all winter. Please have a look at the availability calendar and speak with us to make your plan.
The Red Shutter Inn is an iconic Red Mountain establishment in a ski-in location, less than 200 meters walk to the Red and Silverlode chairs at Red Mountain Resort on one side, and next to the "Big Red Cats" headquarters and the "Fresh" clubhouse on the other.
Owned by Big Red Cats, it was the original lodging at Red Mountain, built in the 1960's, and has a "ski club" vibe and casual atmosphere, including welcoming on-site innkeeper Meegan, and "Big Red" the inn's cat. Host to many cat skiing groups, it is conveniently located, has the best hot tub in town, and fits 12 people comfortably, it also continues to welcome its regular old ski bums and racers who come to enjoy Red.
Each room has its own newly renovated washroom with shower, a comfortable queen and double bed and heater. Gathering around the wood stove in the lounge room or in the huge outdoor hot tub are with the other guests are highlights of the Red Shutter experience - there are no individual tv's in the hotel rooms, but there is free wifi if you bring your laptop. Cuddle with "Big Red Cat" on the sofa, and walk to 3 nearby restaurants, or take the hourly shuttle into town. With only 6 rooms, it is cozy, comfortable, and social. In winter, inn guests all receive a coupon for 50% off of breakfast next door at "Fresh" clubhouse - dine-in or takeaway.
Next door, the 2-bedroom A-Frame Cabin sleeps 4 and offers a basic kitchen, for those who prefer a self-catering option. One of the "best value" options at the hill, it's a great choice for groups of 4 who want inexpensive autonomy but who aren't expecting luxury. Though small and "rustic," it still offers access to the best hot tub and sauna in town, and has free wifi and comfortable beds (king-single in the main bedroom is made up as a king, but can be split, and the king-singles in the 2nd room are dressed as singles.
